We sure are! All our kombucha is Certified Organic and must go through rigorous scrutiny to meet these strict standards. Organic ingredients must be grown without synthetic agricultural chemicals like pesticides, herbicides and fungicides, which means that organic farming has a reduced impact on the environment. It also means there’s no chance of these sneaking into your drink! Organic certified products can not contain synthetic colours or flavours, or genetically modified ingredients, so you can trust what goes into your bottle of Lo Bros.
Q.
Is Lo Bros. Kombucha okay to drink for pregnant and breastfeeding women?
A.
Our kombucha is a live-fermented product, and we don’t pasteurise it – because we don’t want to kill off our beneficial microbes! However, as a natural part of kombucha fermentation, trace amounts of alcohol are produced. We strictly monitor alcohol levels, and these trace amounts never exceed the legal limits as set out by Food Standards authorities.

Q.
What strains of bacteria are present in Lo Bros. Kombucha?
A.
There are lots of different strains of bacteria in Lo Bros. Kombucha because it’s a naturally fermented product, but like all happy families, we secretly have a few favourites. In brewing, the most abundant strains of bacteria are Acetobacter and Gluconobacter; these guys control the end-stage of the process, where beneficial acids are produced, and our kombucha becomes tasty and tangy. We test every batch, just to make sure it’s perfect. Plus, because we’re really into making the best products that we can, we top up our kombucha with some extra probiotic strains just before bottling. This means that we can guarantee that Lo Bros. always has more probiotics than we claim; it’s like a safety blanket for your tummy.
Q.
Does Lo Bros. Kombucha contain caffeine?
A.
Lo Bros. Kombucha begins its life as a sweetened tea before the fermentation process. Caffeine is naturally present in tea, so there is a small amount of caffeine present in our kombucha: around 5mg per serve. This is a small amount considering a small coffee has around 145mg! However, if you are very sensitive to caffeine, please consult a health professional for advice.
Q.
Your kombucha tastes different to last time I drank it. Why is that the case?
A.
We use the traditional kombucha brewing method, so there will be slight variations within each batch. Our Lo Bros. Kombucha is a natural product, and we wouldn’t want it to be any other way. We have super specific parameters that our brewers follow to ensure that each batch is as consistent in quality and flavour as possible.
Q.
Is Lo Bros. Kombucha gluten free?
A.
Yes, absolutely! Lo Bros. is naturally gluten free. None of our ingredients contain gluten, and our brewing facility does not produce any products that contain gluten, either. We don’t claim this on the bottle, however, as getting gluten-free certification requires lots of testing for traces of gluten, and it feels a bit silly considering the slim chance of any little gluten friends sneaking in to gate-crash the party. However, if you have Coeliac Disease or are sensitive to gluten, it’s best that you consult a health professional for advice.
Q.
What kind of water do you use in Lo Bros.?
A.
We brew our tea using pristine spring water that comes straight out of the ground. We also carefully filter the water we use in our kombucha, so that nothing unwelcome (leaves, twigs, tadpoles) gets through to our brew. We’re a little bit fussy like that, but we know you’ll understand.
